Périgord's name comes from « Pétrucores », the Gallic people who lived along the banks of the Dordgogne river. The history of mankind has left its mark on the varied landscapes to be found in the area ; traces of human life, stretching from prehistoric times and up until the 100 years war and as far as the Second World War, have been found in Périgord. |
